While we were lucky enough to visit the Swiss and Austrian Alps, our all time favorite location was exactly North America. There are some of the best ski slopes in the world and the people are so approachable, we enjoyed every minute of our time there.
Time passes by quickly, the children were soon young adults, before I knew it my daughter had left home to get married while my son was entering his gap year. I wasn?t astounded when he said that during his year out he would be taking a skiing holiday in North America with some of his university friends.
The skiing resort they chose to visit was in the mountains of North America, a magnificent spot with splendid slopes and captivating scenery. When I saw the photographs of the amenities and read about the place I knew he had chosen well for him and his pals.
We weren?t alarmed when he rang home with the idea that he wanted a change of direction in his life, something he would appreciate, which was to become a skiing instructor. He had read all about the winter sports teaching programme and knew it was educational, also pleasant, making a positive addition to his CV. He was absolutely committed to this course and couldn?t wait to start.
He sent more information on the training course to give my husband and I an insight as to what it involved, we both knew he would succeed as he had always been a very sporty and competing boy, at school as well as university. The qualifications would prepare him to work at a really high level in the winter sport industry in Europe, Japan, Australasia, North and South America.
Our son set out to obtain a first class pass in skiing instruction, running a ski resort, developing technical abilities and personal qualities and achieved his goals in becoming a first class instructor. He also learned about first aid, avalanche awareness and participating in a ski patrol. We were very proud of him and his friends were so impressed some of them were thinking of enrolling in the course because it offered them fantastic career prospects and was out of the norm.
Six months on and after a visit from us, our son now has a constant job as a skiing instructor in one of the most terrific places on earth. He teaches all levels from beginner to expert skiers and is awfully blissful even though it meant he is far from home. He is also trying his hand at snowboarding which he may teach at a later date.
This reputable ski instructor course was just the thing for our son and would be perfect for anyone thinking of a complete change of career to a ski instructor. He highly recommends it and so do we.
