The California State Athletic Commission has clarified that UFC middleweight Chael Sonnen can reapply for a license to fight in California and elsewhere after June 29, 2011, one year earlier than initially announced.
The update came after the commission voted on Wednesday to continue Sonnen?s indefinite suspension for potentially false comments made during his December appeal of a failed drug test as well as pleading guilty to money laundering.
Before his suspension was upheld, the UFC still planned to feature Sonnen against Michael Bisping as coaches on The Ultimate Fighter 14 before squaring off after the season for a title shot.
Sonnen (25-11-1) came up short against middleweight champion Anderson Silva in August, after which he failed his drug test, was suspended until March, and hasn?t fought since.
